You will generally receive a warning that your domain name is due to expire, around 30 days before the due date. So if you want to keep a domain, be sure to remember to renew. If you don't renew, your Registrar will put the domain 'on hold' for a further period and after that, it will be available as an 'expired' domain for anyone to purchase.
